This Thursday, 1/7/2010 at 6-8 pm, the Center for Architecture (536 LaGuardia Place) will host a program on the urbanSHED International Design Competition (www.urbanshed.org ), with presentations by the three finalists teams, KNEStudios, XChange Architects, and Young Hwan Choi (details below). It will be the only public design presentation of the finalists' schemes before the announcement of the winner later this month.
The presentation is in conjunction with an installation in the Center for Architecture's Helfand Spotlight Series, which features the finalists' designs, including models, presentation boards, and project reports, as well as other notable submissions.Since launching in August 2009, the urbanSHED International Design Competition challenges the global design community to create a new standard of sidewalk shed design and develop a prototype worthy of today's New York City. In 2010, a prototype of the winning scheme will be built on a construction site in lower Manhattan.Thursday, 01/07/2010, 6:00 - 8:00pm

The three finalist proposals and other notable submissions are on view at the Center for Architecture through the end of January as a part of the Helfand Spotlight Series. The winning scheme will be announced later this month.
