Zwilich, Shostakovich & Brahms to Launch NY Philharmonic Ensembles Series This Feb

The spring season of the New York Philharmonic Ensembles series, chamber concerts showcasing Musicians from the Orchestra performing classical masterpieces and modern compositions in an intimate setting, will begin on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. at Merkin Concert Hall. The concert will include Ellen Taaffe Zwilich's Piano Quintet, Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 14, and Brahms's Horn Trio.

The Ensembles series' spring season continues on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. with a concert featuring Smetana's Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 15; Beethoven's String Quartet in F minor, Quartetto serioso; and Hummel's Septet. The final performance of the season, Sunday, May 29, 2016, at 3:00 p.m., will feature Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 7; Paul Schoenfield's Trio for Clarinet, Violin, and Piano; and Schubert's Piano Quintet, Trout.

Since 1984 the Philharmonic Ensembles series has allowed audiences to experience the artistry of the Philharmonic's virtuosos in an intimate setting. Ensembles concerts are also offered on the Orchestra's international and domestic tours, on separate chamber music tours, and at locations throughout New York City.
