Zamin to Make Four NYC Appearances This Month, 10/13-15

Zamin will make four New York appearances this month, October 2012.

Zamin’s unique sound comes from blending an entirely classical instrumentation, a modern take on traditional Hindustani vocals, and an indie rock approach to songwriting, and features an array of percussion, classical guitar, cello, double bass, trumpet, and classical Indian instruments such as taanpura and harmonium.

"Zamin" itself means "earth" in Hindi, and many lyrics from their first album come from traditional Urdu poems, while their newer lyrics are written in English. The band is built on the concept of creating a harmony from the clash between the traditional and the modern, giving the Indian sound an unexpected place in our current music scene.

Four New York appearances:

· Saturday, October 13 at 7:30pm: Alphabet Lounge, 140 Avenue C at 7th St
· Sunday, October 14 at 9:30pm: DromNYC, 85 Avenue A at 5th St
