Young At Arts Sings In The Holiday Season With A Celebration Bridging Culture And Community

Young at Arts, Westchester's most impactful performing arts educational organization, celebrates the holiday season with their first annual Holiday Festival, December 15and community caroling, December 8.

With the mission of building bridges between the young students of Westchester County, the December 15thHoliday Festivalwill shine a festive light on the program's curriculum of voice, music, dance and acting and feature 150 students, 3rdthrough 12thgrade, from over 40 different schools across Westchester. From Bronxville and beyond to corners of The Bronx and Mount Vernon, the program is centered around bringing together children from different backgrounds and means in a collaborative environment that champions art, expression, empowerment and discipline. In addition to spirited performances throughout the day, audiences will enjoy light snacks and beverages for purchase as well as an afternoon visit from Santa. The Festival mirrors the mission of Young at Arts in a celebration of a multi-cultural world and the ways in which people of all colors and creeds celebrate the season through music and dance.

Leading up to the mid-month Festival, the program's more advanced students will help to ring in the holiday season with traditional carols and acappella arrangements sung by the Young at Arts vocal ensemble. With a pop-up performance in front of Dobbs and BishopFine Cheeseon December 8, located in the heart of Bronxville village, shoppers will enjoy a songbook of holiday favorites.

Young at Arts serves over 800 students county-wide, with nearly thirty-five percent of the program on need-based scholarships. With classes offered in Musical Theater, Vocal Performance, Instrumental Studies, Rock Band and Dance, the program is funded primarily through private donations, grants and tuition.

PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE

December 8, 3:30 p.m., Caroling and Choir Performance at Dobbs and Bishop Fine Cheese, located at 107 Pondfield Road in Bronxville.

December 15, 12:00-5:00 p.m., Young at Arts First Annual Holiday Festival at Taylor Hall, Christ Church Bronxville, located at 17 Sagamore Road in Bronxville. Admission is $10 at the door. All proceeds from the event will support the upcoming Advanced Choir band trip to Tennessee in the Spring of 2019.
