The New York Times is reporting that the Off-Broadway hit Yank! is now Broadway-bound for the 2010-2011 theatre season. No details on the theatre, schedule or if the cast would remain in tact were announced for the move, which is said to be budgeted at $5 million dollars.

The York Theatre Company is currently running David Zellnik and Joseph Zellnik's musical, Yank! A World War II Love Story, through April 4, 2010. (The production opened February 24).

Directed by Igor Goldin, the production features a cast that includes Nancy Anderson (Wonderful Town, A Class Act), Jeffry Denman (White Christmas, The Producers), Ivan Hernandez (Romantic Poetry, The Fantastics) and Bobby Steggert (Ragtime, 110 in the Shade). Andrew Durand (Spring Awakening), Zak Edwards (Encores! No No Nanette), Todd Faulkner (PBS' "Wordscape"), Denis Lambert (A Chorus Line), Joseph Medeiros (Guys and Dolls, Grease), David Perlman (Calvin Berger at Barrington Stage), Christopher Ruth (Happy Days at Paper Mill/Goodspeed) and Tally Sessions (South Pacific).

Set during World War II, Yank! chronicles the relationship between two servicemen long before "Don't-ask-don't-tell" was part of the national discussion. With a lively score inspired by the pop sounds of the 1940's, Yank! captures the spirit and exuberance of the era as it explores questions of prejudice, courage and survival.

Featuring music by Joseph Zellnik and book and lyrics by David Zellnik, Yank! also features music direction by John Baxindine, choreography by Jeffry Denman, set design by Ray Klausen, costume design by Tricia Barsamian and lighting design by Ken Lapham.??Yank! is co-produced by Maren Berthelsen, Pamela Koslow, Stuart Wilk, Matt Schicker, Hugh Hayes, Jim Kierstead, Sondra Healy and Shidan Majidi.??Please visit www.yorktheatre.org for the complete performance schedule.
