Revivals will often utilize the ticket selling power that comes with hiring a household name to lead a production - as was the case for the announced revival of SWEET BIRD OF YOUTH, which was set to feature Nicole Kidman and James Franco and open this spring.

When Franco departed, however, the production was halted. A similar situation is faced by revivals of YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU, A FEW GOOD MEN and PICNIC, all of which have been delayed until stars can be found.

Now the goal, PICNIC producer Darren Bagert tells the New York Times, is to open in the fall. A FEW GOOD MEN producer Ken Davenport echoed the sentiment that the producting is seeking stars that will live up to the memories of those in the film (Tom Cruise & Jack Nicholson).

Still, unless stars can be found, it's unlikely that the productions will make the move to Broadway.  Read the New York Times article here.
