Culture Project has announced that its acclaimed, sold-out production of Lawrence Wright's My Trip to Al-Qaeda will play two encore performances on Tuesday, June 5 and Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at New York City's Town Hall (123 West 43 Street) at 8:00 p.m.  My Trip To Al-Qaeda began performances on March 1, 2007 at Culture Project and quickly became a critical and word-of-mouth success, with tickets impossible to come by in its final weeks.  New Yorkers were eager to have an intimate audience with Mr. Wright, who is arguably the individual who knows more about Al-Qaeda than any other American.

The production is directed by Gregory Mosher (A Streetcar Named Desire, Speed the Plow) and follows in Al Gore¹s footsteps by using facts, figures and multimedia to weave the details of a complex global issue in this case the rise of Al-Qaeda into a compelling, dramatic and unquestionably timely story.

Wright was recently announced as a Pulitzer Prize recipient for his non-fiction book, "The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11," published by Alfred A. Knopf, on which My Trip To Al-Qaeda is based.  He will be in New York to accept the J. Anthony Lukas Prize Project Award at Columbia University on Tuesday, May 8 and The Pulitzer Award on Monday, May 21, also at Columbia University.

"Before September 11th, 2001, Al-Qaeda was largely unknown to most Americans.  But for many members of the FBI, CIA, politicians and intelligence operatives worldwide, it represented a very real, constant and growing threat.  In My Trip To Al-Qaeda, Wright utilizes never-before-seen evidence, transcripts and court documents to illustrate how this organization fomented and implemented their attack on America and became a defining force in America's foreign policy and national psyche.  Wright's work is the result of interviews with over six hundred people (including members of Al-Qaeda) throughout the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Holland, Spain, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Sudan, as well as New York and Washington," according to press materials.

Wright is a best-selling author, screenwriter and staff writer for The New Yorker.  He is the co-writer of The Siege, starring Denzel Washington, Bruce Willis and Annette Bening, which appeared in November, 1998 and wrote the script for the Showtime movie Noreiga:  God's Favorite, among others.  Wright is currently working on a script for MGM about John O'Neill, the former head of the FBI's office of counterterrorism in New York, who died on 9/11.  He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Tickets will go on sale Monday, May 7, 2007.  They are priced at $25 - $40 and will be available by visiting www.ticketmaster.com or phoning (212) 307-4100.  In addition, Premium, Patron and VIP seats can be obtained by phoning Willow at Culture Project at (212) 925-1806.
