Weaver and Daniels Set for Flea's Love Letters Benefit

The Flea Theater will present a benefit performance of A.R. Gurney's Love Letters featuring film and theatre stars Sigourney Weaver (upcoming Crazy Mary) and Jeff Daniels (Blackbird) on Monday, June 4 at 7pm at The Frederick Loewe Theater (on the campus of New York University, 35 West 4th Street at Greene Street). It is directed by Jim Simpson.

Love Letters "traces the lifelong correspondence between the solid and stolid Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and the spirited and impulsive Melissa Gardner as they mature from childhood playmates into adulthood.  The story of their relationship gradually unfolds from what is written - and also left unsaid - in their letters," state press notes.

The Flea Theater, under Artistic Director Jim Simpson and Producing Director Carol Ostrow, has been producing acclaimed new work for 11 seasons.The Flea is also home to The Bat Theater Company.  "The Flea's mission applies to all disciplines: presenting work that is edgy, distinctive, reflective of our time, and representative of the highest Off-Off-Broadway standards.  The theatre is the winner of a Special Drama Desk Award, two Obie Awards and an Otto for political theater."

Tickets to this one-time-only event are $250 each. A limited number of exclusive tickets, which include a gala dinner with the stars and a live auction, can be purchased for $1250 each.
