Lincoln Center Theater's world-premiere production of Third, a new play by Wendy Wasserstein and directed by Daniel Sullivan, will open on Monday, October 24, at 6:45 PM, at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater.

Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein's new play is "a candid, uncompromising portrait of a woman at a crossroads in her life. In Third, college professor Laurie Jameson's seemingly ordered life as a wife, mother and daughter, as well as educator, is thrown into disarray after she accuses a student of plagiarism, the aftermath of which forces her to question the values and ideals she has clung to for so long," according to press notes.

Two-time Academy Award-winning actress Dianne Wiest plays the professor, Amy Aquino her best friend, Charles Durning her father, Gaby Hoffmann her daughter, and Jason Ritter her student. Sets are by Thomas Lynch, costumes by Jennifer von Mayrhauser, lighting by Pat Collins, original music by Robert Waldman and sound by Scott Stauffer.

Playwright Wendy Wasserstein and director Daniel Sullivan previously collaborated on the Lincoln Center Theater premieres of her plays The Sisters Rosensweig and An American Daughter, and on Wasserstein's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play The Heidi Chronicles.

Third will be performed Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8 PM, with matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2 PM and Sundays at 3 PM. Tickets prices are $70 and $75 at the Lincoln Center Theater Box Office, through Tele-charge at (212) 239-6200 or by visiting www.lct.org.
