WINNDance Will Make World Premiere Debut at La Biennale di Venezia
SCIROCCO: DEATH IN VENICE – BRIDGE OF SIGHS will play Teatro Malibran, led by co-founder Marijn Rademaker
Founded by Marijn Rademaker and Slava Tutukin, WINN is a new dance company and creative platform dedicated to world class dancers aged 40 and over whose careers have shaped ballet and contemporary dance over decades. The company is built on a clear premise: age is not a limitation, but a powerful expression of experience, depth and artistic maturity.
“We have seen too many extraordinary artists leave the stage at the moment when their voice becomes most powerful. WINN is about giving space to that moment and allowing it to be seen.” — Marijn Rademaker and Slava Tutukin, Directors and Co-Founders of WINNDance
The new company will debut with the world premiere performance of Scirocco: Death in Venice – Bridge of Sighs at La Biennale di Venezia 2026. The performances will take place on 31 July and 1 August 2026 at Teatro Malibran in Venice, marking the opening of the company's first season and international tour.
Conceived as a two-part work in dialogue, the evening brings together a newly formed ensemble of world-class dancers, marking a distinctive new voice on the international stage. The first chapter, inspired by Thomas Mann's Death in Venice, interweaves works by Imre and Marne van Opstal, Omar Román De Jesús and Rainer Behr, while the second chapter, Bridge of Sighs, is created by the legendary John Neumeier.
The production brings together an exceptional cast, including Diana Vishneva, Gil Roman, Silvia Azzoni, Oleksandr Ryabko, Mara Galeazzi, Igone de Jongh, Marijn Rademaker, Polina Semionova, Kayoko Everhart and Silas Henriksen, representing a rare concentration of artistic experience, presence and individuality on stage.
“The Instrument of dance is the human body – tempered, trained and tuned to articulate physical actions which symbolize and consequently give shape to deep and sometimes enigmatic emotions. I believe dance must mirror humanity. My dream has always been to work with an ensemble of artists of different ages, because humanity - and therefore dance should not be limited to a certain age group.” — John Neumeier, Choreographer.
Costumes designed by BOSS define the production's visual language, establishing a refined dialogue between dance and fashion and reinforcing a distinctive aesthetic unfolding throughout the evening, expressing a shared sensibility of time, identity and perception.
Presented at La Biennale di Venezia 2026, the premiere positions WINN as a company redefining how dance engages with age, experience and artistic excellence today — in response to a structural and cultural gap within the international dance sector.
“WINN is built on the belief that experience deepens artistic relevance. The new ensemble brings together artists whose voices have evolved over decades, creating a new perspective on how dance is perceived today.” — Marijn Rademaker and Slava Tutukin, Directors and Co-Founders of WINNDance
WINN — “When, If Not Now” represents both an artistic and ethical position, pointing to timing, agency and urgency, and proposing a forward-looking approach to dance-making in which maturity, knowledge and lived experience are central to creation.
