What We Look Like-an original new play- is holding a second staged reading this month after a successful first reading held this past June at Pearl Studios.

The first reading was held at Pearl Studios on June 29 and was attended by a handful of industry professionals, writers and friends. All attendees were given questionnaires that went directly to co-writers Jonathan Mello and Bruce Jones who are working closely with a dramaturg and other industry mentors to help the first-time playwrights develop and strengthen the piece.

"We always knew that this was an important play and that it needed to be heard" says Mello who also lends his acting talents to the role of Dominic. "To hear the audience say the exact same thing was incredible to say the least." Bruce Jones who also plays the title role of Jesse also left the reading feeling uplifted by the outpour of feedback and support. Both Jones and Mello are ecstatic to continue developing the play and sharing it with audiences.

The play follows Jesse- a self-proclaimed "chubby" librarian who meets Adam- a conventionally handsome graphic designer who works for a fast-paced ad firm in present day New York City. The awe of their new relationship is met with opposition by an inner circle of friends who viciously doubt the realism and genuinity of what they have. The play promises to take the audience on a wild journey filled with quirkiness, humor, emotion and heart. The play begs the question: Does your body type determine who you can fall in love with?

The reading will be directed by Lili Stiefel and feature: Bruce Jones (Tour: Hair, Off B'way: Marie Christine), Jonathan Mello (Off B'way: It Takes Life), Adam Hyndman (Off B'way/Tour: 50 Shades), Jon Huggins (Off B'way: The Mysteries at the Flea Theatre). A meet and greet will follow the reading with the cast and creative team.

The reading will take place on August 29, 2015 at the Punto Space 325 W 38th Street at 4:30 PM. A limited number of tickets for the reading are available by request. Ticket Requests should be made by email to: whatwelooklikeplay@gmail.com. Limit one ticket per person/request. Tickets are subject to availability.

An additional reading and workshops will follow the second staged reading with a full production slated during the spring of 2016.
