And a Happy Birthday shout-out to Robert De Niro, who turns 72 today!
De Niro last starred on Broadway in CUBA & HIS TEDDY BEAR in 1986. He will soon co-direct with Jerry Zaks the new, possibly Broadway-bound, musical version of A BRONX TALE at Paper Mill this season. (He starred in and directed the original movie in 1993.) Among De Niro's recent film credits are LAST VEGAS, GRUDGE MATCH and THE CARRIER, and he has THE COMEDIAN, BUS 657, THE INTERN, JOY, HANDS OF STONE and DIRTY GRANDPA in the queue. De Niro won an Oscar for his role in THE GODFATHER PART II, as well as RAGING BULL, and earned nominations for TAXI DRIVER, CAPE FEAR, THE DEER HUNTER, AWAKENINGS and SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK. He received Golden Globe nominations for NEW YORK, NEW YORK opposite Liza Minnelli, as well as MIDNIGHT RUN, ANALYZE THIS and MEET THE PARENTS.
