Video: First Look at SILENT SKY at Amarillo Little Theatre
Lauren Gunderson's acclaimed drama runs April 9 through 19, 2026 at the Adventure Space in Amarillo, Texas.
Amarillo Little Theatre has released first look footage of SILENT SKY, Lauren Gunderson's celebrated drama now playing through April 19, 2026 at the Adventure Space.
Directed by Carrie Huckabay, the play follows real-life astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, who begins work at the Harvard Observatory in the early 1900s at a time when women were forbidden from touching a telescope or expressing an original idea. Joining a group of women "computers" hired to calculate and process complex astronomical data, Leavitt works to measure the light and distance of stars while balancing family obligations, the possibility of love, and the fight for recognition in a male-dominated field. This true story explores how the dedication of Leavitt and her female peers changed the way we understand the universe, even as men claimed credit for their discoveries.
Natalie Lawson leads the cast as Henrietta Leavitt, joined by Kaeclyn Tenorio as Margaret Leavitt, Joanna Kimbell as Annie Cannon, Kayla Fuller as Williamina Fleming, and Preston Moore as Peter Shaw.
SILENT SKY is rated for all ages and plays at 7:30 p.m. on April 16, 17, and 18, and at 2:30 p.m. on April 19. ASL interpreters will be available at the April 19 matinee. Following the April 12 performance, ALT hosted an Ovation Series Talk Back Event. For tickets, call the box office at (806) 355-9991 or purchase online.
