Veteran Cirque Du Soleil Performer, Yann Arnaud, Dies Following Fall at Tampa Show

Yann Arnaud, a veteran aerialist for Cirque du Soleil, has died after sustaining injuries from a fall during a performance of Volta in Tampa, FL, Deadline reports.

Arnaud, a performer with the company for 15 years, fell to the stage and was immediately rushed to administer treatment, and then to an area hospital. Later, he died.

Cirque president and CEO Daniel Lamarre released a statement, saying, "The entire Cirque du Soleil family is in shock and devastated by this tragedy." Arnaud "was loved by all who had the chance to know him. Over the coming days and weeks, our focus will be on supporting Yann's family and employees, especially the Volta team, as we go through these difficult times together."

The company has said that the final two performances of Volta in Tampa were cancelled.
