According to a report by ContactMusic.com, Vanessa Williams, current star of Broadway's Sondheim on Sondheim, has been campaigning for an Ugly Betty movie.  Williams, along with co-stars America Ferrera and Ana Oritz, has been doing her best to bring the cancelled ABC show to the big screen.

Ugly Betty officially finished filming on April 14.  Williams, who has played Wilhemina Slater for the past four seasons,  stated, "We did not want to leave. Our last week, none of us wanted to leave the table. None of us wanted to finish the words we were saying."  She also added, "It was an extraordinary group of people, the ensemble was great, the directors were great - the writers - the whole team. It was unique. Yes, an Ugly Betty movie, absolutely."

Ugly Betty starred America Ferrera as Betty Suarez, Eric Mabius as Daniel Meade, Tony Plana as Ignacio, Ana Ortiz as Hilda, Judith Light as Claire Meade, Becki Newton as Amanda, Michael Urie as Marc, and Mark Indelicato as Justin.

Ugly Betty was an American comedy-drama television series created by Silvio Horta, which premiered on ABC on September 28, 2006. The series revolves around the character Betty Suarez and is based on the Colombian telenovela Yo soy Betty, la fea, which was created by Fernando Gaitán. The series was produced by Silent H, Ventanarosa and Reveille Productions partnered with ABC Studios, and was filmed in Los Angeles and New York City.
