Tony Award winner Idina Menzel stopped by last night's TONIGHT SHOW to perform the Joni Mitchell classic "River" from her new album 'Holiday Wishes.' And in a web exclusive, Menzel hung out backstage to tell viewers about creating holiday traditions with her son. Check out both clips below!

Menzel, currently starring in Broadway's IF/THEN, was recently honored at the 2014 Billboard Women in Music Awards with the Breakthrough Artist of the Year award, a brand new honor added to the ceremony now in its ninth year.

The actress has performed in musicals (Broadway's WICKED, RENT) and film and television including Enchanted, Ask the Dust, Glee, and Rent. Solo albums include Barefoot At The Symphony (a live recording of her PBS special by the same name), I Stand, Here, and Still I Can't Be Still.

About The Tonight Show

In 2014, "The Tonight Show" returned to its New York origins when "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" made its broadcast debut from Studio 6B in Rockefeller Center. Emmy Award- and Grammy Award-winning comedian Jimmy Fallon brings a high-tempo energy to the storied NBC franchise with his welcoming interview style, love of audience participation, spot-on impersonations and innovative sketches.
