THE GENTLE HOOK

By Francis Durbridge

Theatre Royal Plymouth: Tuesday 22 February – Saturday 26 February 2005

The intense and gripping thriller The Gentle Hook, written by one of the world's most popular and prolific thriller writers Francis Durbridge, takes to the stage at the Theatre Royal Plymouth from Tuesday 22 February to Saturday 26 February 2005.

This stylish new production has an all star cast led by Chris Ellison who starred as DI Burnside in The Bill. He is joined by veteran film and stage actor Geoffrey Davies, Bergerac's Deborah Grant and The New Avengers star Gareth Hunt. The cast is completed by Tony Scannell who played one of The Bill's most popular and remembered characters, Ted Roach.

Stacey Harrison is a charming, sophisticated and highly successful businesswoman. However, she does seem to get herself involved in complicated and indeed mysterious circumstances. To start with, she is seeking a divorce from her husband for somewhat unclear reasons. Shortly after her return from a slightly questionable trip abroad she is attacked by a strange man and, in the struggle, kills him.

It soon transpires that the man may not be so much of a stranger as it first appeared. Stacey then temporarily disappears. A second killing and an attempt at a third occur before the mysteries are finally resolved. The tension and mystery rises sharply throughout and is sustained to the final moments.

This polished new production of The Gentle Hook promises an evening of gripping drama with plenty of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seats until the final climax.
