A special reading of Allan Knee's Syncopation, described in press notes as "an upcoming 2008 Broadway production," will take place at New World Stages.

The production will feature renowned stage and film actor John Turturro (Do the Right Thing, The Big Lebowski, "Monk")  as well as Tony Award-winner Katie Finneran (Noises Off, The Iceman Cometh, Cabaret).

Syncopation won the "Best Play" award from the American Theatre Circles, and Allan Knee's musical adaptation of Little Women, starring Sutton Foster and Maureen McGovern, just ended a successful national tour. Knee is currently writing the musical adaptation of Oscar-Winning film Finding Neverland, which was based on his play The Man Who Was Peter Pan.

Other artists attached to the Broadway production of Syncopation include producers Stephen Helper (Smokey Joe's Cafe), Peter Bogyo (Starmites), choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys), and Tony Award winning designers Catherine Zuber, Michael Yeargan, Wendell Harrington and Beverly Emmons.

New World Stages is located at 340 West 55th Street. Visit www.newworldstages.com for more information.
