Authors Jordan Beck and Jonathan May of the new musical Top 8, which is currently optioned for production by NYC producer Carl D. White of Martian Entertainment (Naked Boys Singing!), recently announced the launch of a ground-breaking plan in the creation of new musicals: create and film each song and scene and post the edited versions online for worldwide audiences to comment upon, and use that feedback in the development of the musical.

"In a meeting with executives at MySpace.com – the popular online site which hosts Top 8 - authors Beck and May, along with producer White, and up-and-coming director Mischa Pfister, pitched the plan to develop Top 8 on their MySpace profile.  When the MySpace folks showed interest in the idea, the Top 8 team set to work on location scouting, and asking friends and family to appear in the video or to donate equipment for filming and post-production services," state press notes.

The first in a series that will be posted on the Top 8 MySpace profile is a video of a song from the musical titled "Dear Tom," about a young girl who moves to LA in search of fame and fortune – and dreams of meeting the love of her life, MySpace founder Tom Anderson.

This music video/online digisode/networking tool/viewer forum will provide the authors with feedback as they shape, write and create Top 8, providing the biggest focus group in history of musical theater!

Top 8 can be heard and seen in its development process by joining MySpace and going to the profile: www.MySpace.com/Top8Musical
