Broadway veteran and Tony Award winner, Leonard Stone, passed away yesterday, November 2, 2011.

Mr. Stone was a mainstay on the Broadway stage in the 1950's and 60's, gracing the stage in South Pacific, Look Homeward Angel, and Redhead (Tony Award for Best Musical and Tony nominee Best Featured Actor in a Musical - 1959). In addition to a successful career on the Great White Way, Stone enjoyed a long career in TV and Film - appearing in over 120 television shows, and 35 films. Perhaps his most famous role was that of Mr. Beauregarde in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Stone had a zest for life matched by few, and is his memory will live on through the lives of his family and dear friends. A consummate professional and true gentleman; Stone always relished the opportunity to tell tales of the time he spent on Broadway, and of the great experience that was entering Wonka's Factory.

His masterful storytelling will live on in his children's book, Keepy the Kangaroo that Never Grew (available for download at barnesandnoble.com).

Today, November 3rd, would have been Stone's 88th birthday.
