The Grand Tour returns; and Ensemble Caprice evokes the culture of Imperial Prague with period instruments

The Grand Tour
Wednesday, January 21 and Thursday, January 22, 8:00 p.m. in the European Paintings Galleries

The Grand Tour, which sold out both performances last season, returns with music from the British Isles for the Baroque triple harp in the Met's English galleries (Paula Fagerberg); Dutch songs and dances played on the recorders, shawms, bagpipes, and lute seen in the paintings of Bruegel, Vermeer, and Rembrandt (Ciaramella); music from 16th-century Spain in the El Greco gallery (Ensemble Viscera); and, honoring the Met's 17th-century Italian galleries, music composed for Concerto delle donne-the group of professional female singers who revolutionized the role of women in music during the late Renaissance under Alfonso II, Duke of Ferrara (TENET).

Turning Music Into Gold
Thursday, January 29, 7:00 p.m. in The Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium

A dazzling performance on period instruments by the renowned Ensemble Caprice. "The group's arrangements are imaginative, even powerful, and the playing is topflight." -New York Times.

This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Bartholomeus Spranger: Splendor and Eroticism in Imperial Prague, on view November 4, 2014-February 1, 2015. The exhibition is made possible by the Placido Arango Fund and The Schiff Foundation.
