TheatreworksUSA Awards Coltoff, Mayer & Moses Oct.22

By: Oct. 17, 2007

TheatreworksUSA, the leading not-for-profit professional theatre for family audiences, is pleased to honor Philip Coltoff, Michael Mayer and C. Warren Moses with the Lee Salk Goodworks Award at its annual awards dinner and gala on Monday, October 22.  The event begins at 6PM at New York's famed Rainbow Room, high atop 30 Rockefeller Center in midtown Manhattan.

Hosted by two-time Tony Award nominee Kevin Chamberlin, the gala event will also launch the fundraising campaign for the 20th Anniversary of Free Summer Theatre.  Next summer, TheatreworksUSA will bring the magic of live theatre to more than 20,000 children and families throughout the city.

TheatreworksUSA's Goodworks Award was established in 1985 to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of business, philanthropy and/or the arts.  The award was renamed in 1992 to the Lee Salk Goodworks Award in memory of Theatreworks' dedicated board member.

Award recipient Philip Coltoff is a leader and innovator in the field of social work and social services, having dedicated his career to improving the lives of those less fortunate both within New York City and far beyond. He is currently Special Advisor for The Children's Aid Society, an organization he has been with since 1966, having previously served as both Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer.

Kimberly Davis, President of the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, will be on-hand to present the award to Mr. Coltoff.

Award recipient C. Warren Moses was named Chief Executive Office of The Children's Aid Society in October 2005. Moses had been the Executive Director of the agency, one of the nation's non-profit, non-sectarian children's service providers.

The award will be present to Mr. Moses by Maeve Gyenes, a native New Yorker and a 12-year member of the Children's Aid Society Board of Trustees.

Tony Award-winning director and TheatreworksUSA honoree Michael Mayer has contributed richly to the cultural landscape of New York City throughout his career, having directed the Broadway productions of Spring Awakening; 'night, Mother; After the Fall; Thoroughly Modern Millie; An Almost Holy Picture; Uncle Vanya; You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; The Lion in Winter; Side Man; A View From the Bridge; and Triumph of Love.

John Gallagher Jr., the Tony-winning star of Spring Awakening, will be on-hand to present the award to Mr. Mayer.

In addition, the awards gala will feature performances from John Bolton, Joe Iconis, John Gallagher Jr. & Lauren Pritchard, Seth Rudestky and The Children's Aid Society Choir.

The cocktail reception begins at 6PM, followed by the dinner and gala presentation at 7PM. Tickets for the event are $500-$1,000. To purchase tickets or for more information, please call 212-647-1100 ext. 131.  Dress is semi-formal. www.theatreworksusa.org
