The Bark & The Tree is an original solo play written and performed by actor/writer Vivian Nesbitt. As a "modern American woman" Nesbitt struggled to understand the choices her great-great grandmother, the poet known as "Eva of the Nation," made during the Great Hunger of 1848 in Ireland. A child of turmoil herself, Nesbitt traveled to Ireland to learn about her mysterious ancestor's ability to stay strong in times of trouble. Careening through a series of events, some funny, some touching, some profound, Nesbitt portrays seven characters that bend time and place to reveal a deep connection that ultimately leads her to a transformation.

410 West 42nd Street New York, NY 10036

When: TODAY, October 5th @ 4:00 pm

Tickets: $18 TeleCharge 212-239-6200 www.telecharge.com

The Bark & The Tree explores our search for deeper connection to place, family and ultimately ourselves, while celebrating the tenacity of a young woman's spirit to overcome her obstacles. Themes of duality, perception and creative expression fill the play with surrender and discovery, juxtaposed with the comedy of human nature.

Vivian Nesbitt is a third generation actor with theater credits that include Roundabout Theater (NYC), George Street Play House (NJ), The Pittsburgh Public (PA) as well as several professional productions in New Mexico where she currently resides. A member of the SAG/AFTRA, Vivian has been a guest on Breaking Bad, Longmire, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Wild Fire, In Plain Sight, and the upcoming Saar Klein film Things People Do, sharing scenes with Wes Bentley. Vivian has a lead role in The Banshee Chapter with Katia Winter and Ted Levine which premiers late summer 2013. She holds an MFA in Acting and owns Sol Acting Academy where she teaches. She is also co-executive director of the nationally syndicated public radio program Art of the Song Creativity Radio with her husband John Dillon.

Director Lee Kitts is at the helm for this production, bringing her extensive experience as a director and actor to bear on the vision and guidance of the performance.
