Theatre Now New York's 2013 SOUND BITES FESTIVAL Picks Top 10 Shows; Set for 12/9

The Sound Bites Festival has chosen its ten finalists. Casting is underway and rehearsals will begin soon. The festival is Monday, December 9th, at The 47th Street Theater at 8 pm. Sound Bites is the first-ever ten minute musical theatre festival and is hosted by Theatre Now New York.

The top ten finalists for the first ever Sound Bites Festival are:

"JUICE" Book by Patricia Bebe McGarry
"Singing Dixie" Written by Caitlin Gallo
"SLAM!" Book and lyrics by Danielle Trzcinski and Music by Jonathon Lynch
"Some Place Like Home" By Adam Gwon
"The Charm" By David Shenton
"The Giver" Composed by Scott Murphy
"The Oedipus Project: Antigone" Adapted by Sarah Norris

Tickets go on sale to the public for $25 on Monday, October 28 on the TNNY website at www.tnny.org by phone at 855-254-SHOW or 855-254-7469.

Each musical will compete for Festival Awards and for inclusion in future programs with the creative team of Theatre Now New York. Sound Bites offers a unique opportunity for talented writers, composers, and lyricists to showcase their work publicly in front of a live audience. The proceeds of the Sound Bites Festival will support Theatre Now's programs to develop new plays and musicals.

Thomas Morrissey, Artistic Director for Theatre Now New York and the Sound Bites Festival, says he's "so thrilled to have a great group of amazing writers and I have no doubt they will write some fantastic shows in the future." Theatre Now New York is a professional theatre company whose history originates with two established companies - the Genesius Theatre Guild in New York City and ReVision Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ. Theatre Now New York brings together the founding principles of both these companies; developmental work and main stage theatrical productions.
