The Sutton Place Trio featuring pianist/vocalist Alex Leonard, bassist Jay Leonhart and guitarist Al Gafa will be appearing at Pangea, Wednesday July 28, 2021 at 6 pm.

The Sutton Place Trio has a New York sensibility reminiscent of the combos that filled the nightlife, clubs and hotels of the Manhattan skyline. The group performs jazz and original music influenced in the classic style by composers and performers such as Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, George Gershwin, Nat "King" Cole, Duke Ellington, The Modern Jazz Quartet and Antonio Carlos Jobim.

Alex Leonard has appeared in venues from Manhattan to Las Vegas, Europe and Japan. All Music Guide writes, "Leonard is an important mainstay of the Big Apple". Bassist/composer Jay Leonhart has performed with the biggest names in the music industry including Peggy Lee and Mel Torme. He has been named The Most Valuable Bassist in the recording industry three times by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

Guitarist Al Gafa performed many years with Dizzy Gillespie, Sammy Davis Jr., Sarah Vaughn and Johnny Hartman as well as musical director for the legendary jazz vocalist Carmen McRae. His playing can be heard on the soundtrack album of the movie "The Bridges of Madison County".
