Trischka is perhaps the most influential banjo player in roots music. He is not only considered among the very best pickers, he is also one of the instrument's top teachers. For more than 35 years, his stylings have inspired a whole generation of bluegrass and acoustic musicians. Mother Falcon joins an impressive list of artists that have collaborated with Trischka recently including Pete Seeger, Mike Seeger, Bill Evans, Bill Keith and Bruce Molsky. Mother Falcon are still coming down from a six-performance run at this year's SXSW, where they were cited as one of Bob Boilen's "15 Essential Moments From SXSW 2013" , and Stephen Thompson tapped them as his "favorite young band of the festival's opening night" on NPR's "All Things Considered".

SULLY AND THE BENEVOLENT FOLK

June 2 at 9:30 PM

$20

Sully and the Benevolent Folk are the result of a musical experiment. Two years ago Sully bought a ukulele and set out to write 30 Songs in 30 Days. This arduous, yet fruitful process became known as The Ukulele Odyssey. After the 30 songs were written and recorded, they refused to be left alone and a group of 25 musicians and artists from many genres came together to bring each song to life. This group became The Benevolent Folk, a group of vagabond blues and folk musicians who united around the ukulele odyssey. Tonight Sully and the Benevolent Folk will celebrate the release of the debut album The Odd Sea.
