The Mexican Museum to Host Artists in Conversation with Manuel Palos and Alejandra Palos
Exploring the stunning sculptural work of Manuel Palos, Artists in Conversation: Manuel Palos and Alejandra Palos will feature a talk with the artist led by his daughter and apprentice, Alejandra Palos. The focus will be on Manuel Palos' background and his work at the Palace of Fine Arts and other San Francisco landmarks. The talented father-daughter team will also delve into the development of his firm, Manuel Palos Sculpture, the challenges he faced as a Mexican immigrant in San Francisco, and his vision and legacy.
Manuel Palos is a master stone carver and architectural sculptor, and considered one of the nation's leaders in architectural restoration. He has more than 30 years of experience in custom sculpture, restoration, and conservation projects. Originally from Zacatecas, Mexico, he moved to San Francisco to work on the restoration of the Palace of Fine Arts. Since then, he has completed numerous significant projects for the City and County of San Francisco, as well as other notable projects across the United States.
Alejandra Palos is a sculptor apprentice to her father and has exhibited her work throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to her artistic endeavors, she manages her father's company, Manuel Palos Sculpture. She also coordinates sculpture classes and workshops in her father's studios in San Francisco and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Throughout the year, The Mexican Museum hosts lectures presented by leading curators, artists, and scholars on such important topics as art history, contemporary art, and anthropology.
