On Thursday, April 7th at 1 p.m., the Eastman School of Music will present a special encore performance from the Women in Music Festival at the City University of New York (CUNY) as part of its Music in Midtown lunchtime concert series. The mission of the Women in Music Festival is to promote the significant contributions of women in music through performance, education, and advocacy. For the performance, Eastman students, faculty and alumnae will be on-hand to perform selected works by Tania León, Hilary Tann and others.

León says, "Because of the Eastman School of Music's leadership, the Women in Music Festival has become an important event honoring - beyond the scope of music - women and Susan B. Anthony's legacy."

The concert program features Tania León's Atwood Songs for soprano and piano. Of her experience composing this work, León says, "It was so thrilling to collaborate with Margaret Atwood and to have the opportunity to exchange ideas on inspiration, poetry, and music with her. Margaret Atwood's status as an internationally renowned author has given a voice
to women all over the world."

TICKETS: $8 general admission and may be purchased at SmartTix: www.SmartTix.com or 212-868-4444, or visit: www.gc.cuny.edu/events/public_programs.htm
