Cornelia Street Café has a long history of jump starting many careers. Eve Ensler's Vagina Monologues began there and Suzanne Vega began her ascent there. JD Cerna hopes to follow in those famous footsteps with Problem Cat: A Love Story.

After failing to talk a neighbor from committing suicide, actor, writer, and storyteller JD Cerna ended up in therapy suffering with PTSD symptoms. When the medications he had been prescribed fail to help, he opted for pet therapy, but the pet - an obese cat with problems of its own, ultimately lands him on the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather.

Does that sound like a starter recipe for a comedy routine? Well if you are JD Cerna, it is the perfect recipe.

Out of that life altering tragedy comes Problem Cat - a frenzied 80-minute one-man show written and performed by Cerna, in which he plays at least ten different characters, including an obese tabby cat.

The first two performances at The Cornelia Street Café, 29 Cornelia Street, NYC on January 16 and 31 played to a packed, standing room only house.

The success guaranteed more performances. Two new shows have been announced with more to follow, February 15 and March 26 at 6:00pm.

Cerna's previous solo performance piece, Not as Cute as Picture, earned him a GLAAD-Media Award nomination and was an audience and critical success in Washington D.C. and New York City, where it played to packed audiences during limited runs.

Tickets are now available for Problem Cat: A Love Story, $15.00 (includes a drink). Performances are February 15 and March 26 @ 6pm (one intermission). You may call for reservations, (212) 989-9319 or visit www.corneliastreetcafe.com.
