The Cornelia Street Café hosts an evening tonight of spoken word and music with New York Story Exchange at 6 PM and the Poul Weis Group- Patrick Breiner Group at 8:30 PM. New York Story Exchange and curator Barbara Aliprantis offers open mic storytelling followed by featured tellers Robin Bady, Jim Hawkins, and Nicholas Zaharakos. Barbara Aliprantis remembers the 35th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon and the legacy of Operation Baby Lift, the name given to the mass evacuation of thousands of children from South Vietnam. Barbara tells the story of a friend who helped evacuate 219 infants and children from An Lac Orphanage.

Robin Bady comes to storytelling from a long line of performers, storytellers, painters, and writers. She wears many hats, including writer, actor, director, educator, musician and storyteller and performs throughout the USA and Europe.

Jim Hawkins, beloved Irish-American Storyteller/Actor/Musician charms audiences with his stories and songs, including memories of his childhood spent in the Midlands of Ireland, and on the stoops and concrete sidewalks of Astoria, Queens.

Nicholas Zaharakos shares a memory from the Vietnam Era - prior to the Fall of Saigon.
Poul Weis is the music curator of The Cornelia Street Café since 2003. He brings Patrick Breiner for an evening of cross-generational improvisors.
