The American Museum of Natural History presents One Step Beyond, concluding its seventh season, with the Martinez Brothers, Justin Strauss, and Stephen Silvestri. The event will take place in the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Hall of the Universe on Friday, June 20.

During this ongoing party series, guests can dance in the Museum's Rose Center for Earth and Space to the sounds of the biggest names in techno, electronica, hip-hop, and indie rock. Guests can also enjoy the Hayden Big Bang Theater, located in the lower part of the Hayden Sphere, which features a dynamic multi-media presentation, narrated by acclaimed actor Liam Neeson, that takes visitors on a thrilling four-minute trip from Earth to the edge of the visible universe. Each ticket also includes one pass to the Museum for future use. One Step Beyond is presented with Brightest Young Things.

WHO

The Martinez Brothers (DJ set), headliner

Raised in the Bronx, The Martinez Brothers (Steve and Chris) channel their city upbringing into hip-hop soaked house beats that have packed dance floors all over the world.The brothers began their creative journey with releases on Objektivity and have since collaborated with such artists as Seth Troxler (Tuskegee) and Point G aka DJ Gregory (Everlasting LovE.) Last year marked the beginning of their homespun event series Mad Beats & Crazy Styles, offering the brothers a space to explore their New York dance music roots. This year alone the guys have been all over Europe and the Americas, they've premiered in Australia, and have plans for a tour of Asia. This summer they'll be splitting their time between their Circo Loco residency at DC-10 in Ibiza and launching their new record label, Cuttin' Headz, which will be a home to their musical experimentations

Justin Strauss (DJ set), support

Justin Strauss was 17 when his first band was signed to Island Records. He began as a DJ at New York's legendary Mudd Club, then The Ritz, Limelight, Area, Tunnel, M.K., Life, Centro Fly, and more. He has worked with artists such as Depeche Mode, Sergio Mendez, Tina Turner, Jimmy Cliff, B-52s, Luther Vandross, Malcolm McClaren, Skinny Puppy, Goldfrapp, and others, and on over 200 records.
Strauss also produces and mixes records as half of the production duo Whatever/Whatever-working on remixes for LCD Soundsystem, Beyonce, La Roux, and more.

Stephen Silvestri, opening DJ

Stephen Silvestri grew up in Long Island, N.Y. His love of dance music was born out of years of thrift store crate digging. Silvestri currently works at Iris Records in Jersey City and heads up their dance department.

ADMISSION

Admission to One Step Beyond is $25 in advance, $30 day of show. Guests must be 21 and present valid ID. A beer and wine cash bar is available. Advance purchase is recommended. Tickets may be available at the door.
