The Actual Dance Launches Year 5 With Celebration Performances

The award-winning solo-show The Actual Dance will launch its 5th year of performances in 2018 with an evening of celebration and performance. Written and originally performed by Samuel A Simon, The Actual Dance is an autobiographical presentation of the experience of confronting the anticipated loss of a spouse. A true love story with a surprise and happy ending, the show has been seen over 200 times in venues across America.

In 2016 a second version of the show was launched featuring Chuk Obasi, and friend of Sam's and a man who faced his own loss. His story though is that of an African American man with a different faith tradition yet experiences the same universal story of love and loss.

The January 11th Celebration is at Studio 145, 145 West 28th Street, 11th Floor. Chuk will perform his version at 6:30 and Sam the original at 8:00 p.m. Audience engagement and discussion will follow each show. Each show feature original music presented by Mike Rosengarten (Guitar) and Elmo Zapp (Cello).

The Actual Dance is written by Samuel A Simon, Kate Holland, Director, Gabrielle Maisels, Dramaturge, and Eli Zoller Musical Director. Tickets available from: www.tadturns5.eventbrite.com
