Dramatists Guild Fund President Andrew Lippa and Executive Director Rachel Routh have announced seven upcoming Traveling Masters Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, Anna Ziegler, Terrence McNally, Lauren Yee, Paula Vogel, and Chisa Hutchinson for events across the country.

The Traveling Masters Program is a national outreach program that sends prominent dramatists into communities across the country for writing workshops, master classes, talkbacks, and other public events. In partnership with leading regional theaters and universities, the Dramatists Guild Fund creates local programming that gives students, theater professionals, and the public first-hand experience with renowned artists.

DGF sent Madeleine George (The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence) to Charleston, SC in early February as the first Traveling Master in 2016. Through the program George worked with student writers and shared insights into her creative process during the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. George is joined by seven other award-winning- dramatists, Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, Anna Ziegler, Terrence McNally, Lauren Yee, Paula Vogel, and Chisa Hutchinson to lead educational and writing development opportunities through the Traveling Masters Program this year.

"As a former Dramatists Guild Fellow, I'm thrilled to be a part of the Traveling Masters Program and start a dialogue with the Kansas City community. Although my home base is in New York, I think it is important and refreshing to connect with theatermakers in all parts of the country. The Dramatists Guild Fund has made it possible for playwrights like me to connect to communities I would not have been able to otherwise." - Lauren Yee (The Hatmaker's Wife, Ching Chong Chinaman, )

"I mean just peep that name: Traveling Masters. Who wouldn't be honored by that? The idea that, even at a point in my career where I feel like I still have so much to learn, I might actually have something to offer in the way of craft or advice... that's incredibly humbling and validating all at once. What a great way to keep practicing writers, who are always so concerned with what happens next, connected with what's happening now." - Chisa Hutchinson (She Like Girls, Dirt Rich)

Thanks to DGF supporters across the country and help from our local partners, all Traveling Masters events are free to attend.
