After the Mark Taper Forum's current '06-'07 season, the Los Angeles theatre will close for summer renovations and will open next year.

The $30 million renovations will focus on technical improvements and audience amenities.  Construction will begin in July of 2007 and will be completed in the middle of 2008.

"It was becoming increasingly clear to CTG that the theatre itself, that beautiful and unique Mark Taper Forum, needed our focus.  These renovations will make the theatre so much better — for our audiences and our artists and our backstage crew. We are grateful to the Music Center, the County and our donors for helping us make all these changes possible," stated CTG Artistic Director Michael Ritchie.

The Mark Taper Forum is currently presenting Jason Robert Brown's new musical 13 through February 18th, with Lisa Loomer's play Distracted and David Henry Hwang's Yellow Face to follow.  The latter play will end its run on July 1st, after which the renovations will begin.

Taper subscribers will be offered a four-play package for the 2007-08 season.  The subscription includes two productions at the remodeled Taper, as well as at CTG's Ahmanson Theatre, also located in Loa Angeles.
