THE SECRET GARDEN, DOUBT, and More Set for The Company Theatre of Rochester 2026-27 Season

The Company Theatre of Rochester has announced its fifth season productions, running September 2026 through June 2027. All performances will take place at The Company's location, 28 Lawn Street in downtown Rochester.

“The Company has come into its own over the last four seasons,” said Carl Del Buono, founding artistic director of The Company Theatre of Rochester, Inc. “We're looking forward to taking on new challenges and bringing audiences and artists together to share in some truly life-affirming theatre in season five. With our thematic throughline, ‘A Closer Look,' we're taking a more intimate, almost voyeuristic approach to the storytelling. It's as if you're looking through windows, or overhearing private conversations.”

OUR TOWN

by Thornton Wilder
Directed by Brodie McPherson
Sept. 4–20, 2026

In this quintessential American play, audiences are transported to the small town of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire, at the turn of the century. As its inhabitants navigate life, love, and loss, they invite the audience to share in the beauty of the everyday.

BURN THIS

by Lanford Wilson
Directed by Carl Del Buono
Nov. 6–22, 2026

In this searing and humorous dark comedy, Anna and Larry mourn the loss of their roommate, Robbie. When Robbie's brother, Pale, chaotically crashes into the roommates' lives, he brings unexpected comfort—and romantic complications.

DOUBT: A PARABLE

by John Patrick Shanley
Directed by Sara Bickweat Penner
Jan. 22 – Feb. 7, 2027

Tensions run high at a 1960s Catholic school in the Bronx as a stern principal, Sister Aloysius, begins to have suspicions about a new priest, Father Flynn. As Aloysius digs deeper, she attempts to bring the truth to light while confronting abuses of power—and moral ambiguities—within the Church.

THE SECRET GARDEN

by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Adapted and Directed by Carl Del Buono
Co-directed by Mandi Lynn Griffith
April 9–25, 2027

In this original adaptation, The Company Theatre breathes new life into the classic children's novel. When spoiled orphan Mary Lennox is left to the care of her cold and elusive uncle, Lord Archibald Craven, her exploration of his Yorkshire manor uncovers hidden family mysteries—and a neglected, locked-away garden.

AS YOU LIKE IT

by William Shakespeare
Directed by Rachel Solomon
June 4–20, 2027

In this pastoral Shakespearean comedy, cousins Rosalind and Celia—disguised and fleeing persecution—make for the Forest of Arden. Within the wilderness and among a band of misfits, they discover the power of love and find truth in illusion: all the world's a stage.

“We will continue having our traditional ‘pay-what-you-wish' and ASL-interpreted performances, as well as our popular post-show talkbacks with the casts and creatives for each production,” Del Buono said.

Season subscriptions and flex passes for the 2026-27 season are on sale through The Company Theatre Box Office (www.thecompanytheatreroc.org/box-office). Individual tickets will go on sale July 1.
