THE REAL LADY MACBETH - LIFTING THE CURSE to Make World Premiere at Hollywood Fringe
The new play by Coco Blignaut and Edison Park will run this June as part of the 2026 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
THE REAL LADY MACBETH - LIFTING THE CURSE, a new play written by Coco Blignaut and Edison Park and directed by Sofia Streisand, will premiere this June in Los Angeles as part of the 2026 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
The production reexamines the historical figure who inspired Shakespeare’s Lady Macbeth, presenting an alternative portrait of the 11th-century Scottish queen. The play seeks to challenge centuries of depictions that characterized Lady Macbeth as power-hungry and villainous.
Set within a world shaped by warfare, vengeance, mysticism, and nature, the production combines historical themes with a contemporary “Burning Man” aesthetic to explore women’s voices throughout history and the ways unheard stories continue to emerge in the present day.
THE REAL LADY MACBETH - LIFTING THE CURSE features music by award-winning singer and composer Kristin Amarie, alongside co-composer and producer Alex Salzman.
