'THE DEVILS WINKS' Opens Oct. 27th at the Creative Place Theater

"THE DEVIL WINKS," an original play with music, written and performed by DAVID SIRK and directed by Mr. Sirk and Judy Baird is being presented at the CREATIVE PLACE THEARE October 27th through October 31st at 8:00 p.m. Performances continue nightly November 16th through November 28th at 8:00 p.m. There is no performance Thursday, November 25th. A special performance is scheduled on Monday, November 15th at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15, $10 for students and seniors. TDF Accepted. For reservations call 212-576-8855. "THE DEVIL WINKS," subtitled "To Be or Not to Be on Avenue B," takes you on one man's odyssey in Alphabet City in the early 80's, at the time, one of New York City's last refuge for cheap rents and 60's Idealism. The only price for admission was a $.50 cup of coffee and an original idea.

Playwright, director and musician DAVID SIRK began his rock and roll career while still in elementary school in Euclid, Ohio. In the 1980's he studied acting at Total Theatre Lab with CAROLINE THOMAS where he first began developing "THE DEVIL WINKS." He recently starred in the role of Sheldon in the film Drivers Wanted. The first part of David's life was dedicated to gaining experience by getting into and of trouble. Now, in his second incarnation, he is dedicated to using the material gathered in his earlier years for writing, composing, producing and acting on the stage.

Co-Director Judy Baird has appeared on Broadway in the Tony Award winning "AN INSPECTOR CALLS" directed by Oscar nominee Stephen Daldry (The Hours, Billy Elliot). She has appeared in the national tours of "AN INSPECTOR CALLS," "EVITA" and "CABARET." Ms. Baird's other leading roles include regional productions of "SWEENEY TODD," "GYPSY," "INTO THE WOODS," "A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC," "BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS," "LETTICE AND LOVAGE," and "PARK YOUR CAR IN HARVARD YARD." A graduate of The National Theatre Institute, Ms. Baird holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from SUNY - Empire State College, and has been accepted into the Master of Arts Program/Theatre Education at Emerson College.
