Broadway Unites will encore the iconic performance that took place one decade ago when Broadway performers helped inspire New Yorkers to return to normalcy with a landmark outdoor performance. Broadway Unites is set for 4pm in Duffy Square.

Broadway will once again inspire, this time in support of 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance, engendered by 9/11 Day's "I Will" campaign (911day.org) which seeks to encourage millions of people to perform good deeds, support charitable causes, and volunteer in tribute to the 9/11 victims and survivors, and all those that rose in service in response to the attacks.

Scheduled speakers at the ceremony include: Paul Libin, Chairman of The Broadway League; Bob Wankel, Chairman of the Times Square Alliance; David Paine and Jay Winuk, Founders of My Good Deed, Inc.; and more.

In addition to cast members from Broadway shows, Broadway performers including: Matthew Broderick, Harvey Fierstein, Joel Grey, Bebe Neuwirth, and Brooke Shields will reprise Kander & Ebb's "New York, New York," as they did 10 years ago in the aftermath of 9/11. The song will follow NYPD Officer Daniel Rodriguez's operatic "God Bless America." Musical Director is Phil Reno. Denis Jones, who participated 10 years ago as a Broadway cast member, is returning this time as Director/Choreographer.

Paul Libin, Chairman, The Broadway League, said, "This moment aims to be a tribute to the arts, life, and New York. We will never forget the tragic loss of so many lives, including firefighters and police officers trying to save lives. Our hearts remain with all of their families. The Broadway community unites in its solidarity and the optimism of looking forward. Ten years ago Broadway united with the city to communicate that the shows must go on, just as life must; and now Broadway is banding together again to inspire participation in charitable projects in honor of those lost."

"In 2001 the Broadway League and so many of its generous members and staff rose together in a single voIce To help lift up New York and the nation following the terrorist attacks on America," said David Paine, president and co-founder of the nonprofit MyGoodDeed, which annually leads and organizes the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, and is participating with HandOn Network and many other groups to organize the single largest day of charitable service for the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. "We are so thankful for their support this year, as we work together to inspire millions of New Yorkers and Americans all throughout our country to pay tribute on 9/11 by taking time to help others in need."

Produced by The Broadway League in support of the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance, in partnership with the Times Square Alliance with additional support provided by Theatre Development Fund (TDF) and with generous support from Music Performance Fund (MPF).
