Staten Island Children's Museum Now Accepting Nominations for Kid of Achievement 2014
Do you know a Kid of Achievement? Now in its 23nd year, the Staten Island Children's Museum's Circle of Friends luncheon is the Museum's way of expressing appreciation to the non-profit and business communities by recognizing people and organizations that have significantly contributed to the lives of Staten Island's children. The honorees include a Kid of Achievement, and we value the public's input in selecting the winner. Children and teens up to age 17 who are involved in volunteerism, overcoming obstacles and challenges to help others, and who display leadership qualities are what the Kid of Achievement award is all about.
Last year's honoree, Olivia Siller, a volunteer with the Stephen Siller Foundation, was recognized for planning fundraising events so that wounded soldiers, firefighters and Hurricane Sandy victims could get the support that they needed.
Some of the Children's Museum's other previous honorees include: Shawn Reilly, a cancer survivor and student at Curtis High School, who was recognized for her efforts on behalf of cancer prevention and awareness; Olivia Devoti, who helped raise funds for the Special Olympics by leading a team of girls as part of the Staten Island Polar Plunge This is only a sampling of the dynamic young leaders in our community.
If you know of a deserving candidate for the Kid of Achievement award, please send in a nomination.
