'Spring Awakening' Welcomes Group of New Cast Members

Spring Awakening welcomed several new cast members to the Tony-winning production at Broadway's Eugene O'Neill Theatre.

On July 19 original cast members Skylar Astin (Georg), Lilli Cooper (Martha), Brian Charles Johnson (Otto), Phoebe Strole (Anna) and Remy Zaken (Thea) played their final performance in the Duncan Sheik-Steven Sater musical.Making their Broadway debuts as their replacements July 21 were Andrew Durand (Georg), Amanda Castaños (Martha), Gabriel Violett (Otto), Emily Kinney (Anna), Caitlin Kinnunen (Thea) and Morgan Karr (Ensemble).The Broadway company also features Kyle Riabko (Melchior), Alexandra Socha (Wendla), Blake Bashoff (Moritz), Blake Daniel (Ernst), Emma Hunton (Ilse), Matt Doyle (Hanschen), Christine Estabrook (Adult Women), Glenn Fleshler (Adult Men), Gerard Canonico, Alice Lee, Eryn Murman, Jesse Swenson, Matt Shingledecker and Jenna Ushkowitz.Based on the 1891 play by Frank Wedekind, Spring Awakening won eight 2007 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Spring Awakening features direction by Michael Mayer, choreography by Bill T. Jones, book and lyrics by Steven Sater and a score by Duncan Sheik.
