A new work by Donald Margulies and a production of Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music will be among the highlights of South Coast Repertory's 2007-2008 season, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's A Little Night Music, based on Ingmar Bergman's Smiles of a Summer Night, will play the theatre's Segerstrom Stage from September 14th through October 7th.  The same space will also host productions of John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Doubt (October 26th through November 18th), Oscar Wilde's classic comedy of manners The Importance of Being Earnest (February 15th through March 9th, 2008), Alan Ayckbourn's comedy Taking Steps (May 23rd through June 15th), with a world premiere production to be announced.

Shipwrecked! An Entertainment: The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (As Told by Himself), a new work by Margulies (Dinner with Friends, Brooklyn Boy), will be presented at the theatre's Argyros Stage from September 28th through October 14th.  The play, which features "old-fashioned adventure yarn-spinning a la Robert Louis Stevenson or Daniel Defoe," will be directed by Bart DeLorenzo.  Following that production will be Sarah Treem's new romantic comedy A Feminine Ending (January 11th through 27th, 2008), Culture Clash in AmeriCCa (March 21st through April 6th), and another world premiere production that will be announced.

The South Coast Repertory is located in Costa Mesa, CA.  Visit www.southcoastrep.org for more information.
