Short Tenors and a Dead Soprano, a new musical which had a concert reading at the New Provincetown Players in Provincetown, MA in October of 2007 as part of the Fall Playwrights Festival, will have a reading on January 8 in New York City by invitation only. The musical is being developed and produced by Michael Staringer of Diabelli Management.

Steven Yuhasz continues to direct Short Tenors and a Dead Soprano which has Book, Lyrics and Music by Glenn Richard Treibitz, Musical Direction by Alexander Frey and Assistant Musical Direction by RAndy Cohen. The show was previously developed with the guidance of the New Provincetown Players Producing Artistic Director Guy Wolf and Michael Staringer.

The cast includes Susan Powell (Sweeney Todd NYC Opera, Miss America 1981, host of "Home Matters" on the Discovery Channel), Stuart Marland (The Fantasticks, The Producers), Michael Shawn Lewis (The Phantom of the Opera, Woman in White), Tad Wilson (Grumpy Old Men, For The Glory), Val Moranto (Tommy) and Adam Berry (Regional: Bat Boy).

"This six character musical is about a self-absorbed, manipulative, and amazingly talented soprano Myrna Friedman. A young girl who goes on to achieve great stardom in the musical theatre after she is discovered in a Chock Full of Nuts Coffee shop by the agent that reinvents her as Maria Falcone.  Maria becomes a Diva of the musical stage; Divarina to those close to her. The hilarity begins when the three "short" tenors, with whom she shared a stage, career and bed; her agent, and her confidant, gather at her funeral. They recall their lives with her as they toured the World with her signature musical, Cleopatra, Queen of Denial," explain press notes.
