Acardenchados
Target Free Thursdays
David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center (Broadway between 62nd & 63rd St.)

Acardenchados take their name from the Mexican Cardenche style of popular music, which is created through the spontaneous interpretation of three or four voices. This improvisational yet traditional vocal ensemble joins together in exploring creative boundaries of singing in the Cardenche and Pirekua-- the syncretism of religious music chants from the Spanish evangelizers combined with Indian Mexican music styles. Joining Tareke Ortiz, Leo Soqui, and Juan Manuel Torreblanca, we welcome back Juan Pablo Villa, one of the most respected exponents of improvisation music in Mexico, who performed at Lincoln Center in 2010. Presented in collaboration with Celebrate Mexico Now.

FREE Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, including program updates, visit LincolnCenter.org/Atrium

Led by accordion virtuoso Uri Sharlin, the DogCat Ensemble takes the audience on a narrated musical journey through dream-like images and landscapes in a presentation of new and original compositions blending jazz and classical influences with Balkan rhythms, Arabic modes and Brazilian harmonies. After performing on the world's most prestigious stages with the San Francisco Symphony, Natalie Merchant, Flight of the Conchords and others, Sharlin, together with an all-star ensemble, presents an innovative performance which features classical instruments, rock guitars and unique homemade percussion.
