Sara Kramer, who currently stars as Sophie in Broadway's Mamma Mia!, will perform in a cabaret to benefit the youth programs of the New York Civil Liberties Union, the New York state affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union.  The evening will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 25th at Symphony Space (95th Street & Broadway) in the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (with dessert following).

Liana Stampur, formerly of the children's chorus of the Metropolitan Opera, will also headline the concert alongside Kramer.  Mamma Mia! is her Broadway debut, although she performed the role in the show's national tour. Kramer's regional credits include Christine in Phantom and Cosette in the world premiere of Les Miserables School Edition.

NYCLU's Teen Health Initiative has helped hundreds of young people understand and advocate for their reproductive rights and launched a campaign for real sex education in schools.  The NYCLU's eight campus chapters have organized teach-ins on academic freedom, protest rights and surveillance; passed a bill of rights resolution; and served as legal monitors for the organization's Protecting Protest campaign leading up to the Republican National Convention.  The NYCLU has also fought bullying and intrusive military recruiting tactics in New York's high schools.

In support and celebration of that work, The New Voices For Civil Liberties Benefit Concert will recognize the new voices of civil liberties: the peer educators of the Teen Health Initiative, the winners of the NYCLU's First Amendment Essay/Poster/Spoken Word Contest, and the recipient of the 2005 ACLU Youth Activist Scholarship.

Priority tickets for the Civil Liberties Benefit Concert are $100 and available by calling Miriam Hurwitz at 212-344-3005 ext. 256.  General admission tickets are $50 and student and member tickets are $20 and available by calling Symphony Space 212-864-5400.
