Salt Lake City Local and Broadway Star Will Swenson to Lead PTC's THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW

By:

Pioneer Theatre Company has just announced the key cast members for this year's production of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW - CONCERT VERSION, which will run for four performances October 22-24, 2015.

Broadway's Will Swenson will play 'Dr. Frank N. Furter'. Swenson, originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, most recently performed as 'Javert' in Broadway's LES MISERABLES. In 2009, he was nominated for a Tony Award for the hit revival of HAIR, and was also in Broadway's BROOKLYN, LESTAT, PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT and 110 IN THE SHADE.

Utah State Senator James Debakis, a hit in last year's production, will reprise his role as 'The Narrator'.

Directed and choreographed by PTC Artistic Director Karen Azenberg, the principal cast members include: Eric Santagata and Ashley Carlson as Brad and Janet, David Beach as Dr. Scott, Ginger Bess as Magenta, Carlton Bluford as Riff-Raff, Adam Pellegrini as Rocky, and Latoya Rhodes as Columbia.

PTC produced 'ROCKY' in 2014, where it played to capacity audiences. Performances will be at 8 p.m. on October 22nd and 23rd, and at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. on October 24th.

A fun-loving tribute to horror and science fiction B-movies of years ago, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW tells the wacky tale of innocent couple Brad and Janet. Newly engaged, their car breaks down in the woods on the proverbial dark-and-stormy night. They soon meet Dr. Frank N. Furter, the "Sweet Transvestite" mad scientist who is about to reveal his latest Frankenstein-esque creation. With a little help from drive-in usherettes, creepy sidekicks, and, of course, the "Time Warp," Brad and Janet usher in the Halloween season. Contains strong sexual themes and language.

What is a "Concert Version?" This is a choreographed production of the entire show, performed with scripts-in-hand and an on-stage orchestra, costuming and limited set.
