Check out this trailer for the Lost Theatre production of ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, which will play a limited season at the Lost Theatre, Vauxhall from Wednesday March 14 - Saturday March 31 to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1962 publication of Ken Kesey's classic American novel.

Jailed for the statutory rape of a 15-year-old girl, anti-authoritarian Randle Patrick McMurphy is transferred to a mental institution for evaluation. Although he does not show any outward signs of
mental illness, he hopes to avoid hard labour and serve the rest of his sentence in a more relaxed hospital environment. But his unwillingness to comply and compassion for his fellow patients make him a prime target for the fearsome Nurse Ratched, who rules with a rod of iron. The constant power struggles between McMurphy and Nurse Ratched will have life changing consequences for all the patients...

The cast includes Dwayne Washington, Damien Tracey, James Unsworth, Annabel Capper, Stephanie Feeney, Bradley Rhys Williams, Lee Colley, Richard Vorster, Paul Cleveland, James Murphy, Bobby Bulloch, Sean Buchanan, Francis Adams, Thomas Barron, Amy Bell, Anita Gollschewsky, Tara Quinn and Hannah Lederer.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was written after Ken Kesey spent time working the graveyard shift as an orderly at a mental health facility in Menlo Park, California. His novel was adapted into a play in 1963. A 1975 film, starring Jack Nicholson as McMurphy, won all five major Oscars (Best Picture, Actor in Lead Role, Actress in Lead Role, Director, and Screenplay), and catapulted Nicholson to Hollywood royalty.
