STAGE TUBE: MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET Celebrates The Holidays
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, the Tony nominated Best Musical playing at the Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street), is celebrating the holidays by adding a special number for a limited time. For the holidays only, the classic 1958 song "Run, Run, Rudolph" has been added to the finale of the show.
"Run, Run, Rudolph" was popularized in 1958 by Chuck Berry. The song (also known by the title "Run, Rudolph, Run") was written by Johnny Marks and Marvin Brodie and published by St. Nicholas Music (ASCAP).
In addition, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET's recording of "Run, Run, Rudolph" can be found on the CD Broadway's Carols for a Cure (Volume 12), benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The CD is currently available at www.BroadwayCares.org or by calling (212) 840-0770 x250. The CD can also be purchased at Broadway Theatres now through December 5. Broadway's Carols for a Cure is produced by Lynn Pinto for Rock-It Science Records and engineered by Andros Rodriguez.
On December 4, 1956, an auspicious twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley together. The place was Sun Records' storefront studio in Memphis. The man who made it happen was Sam Phillips, the "Father of Rock and Roll," who discovered them all. The four young musicians united for the only time in their careers for an impromptu recording that has come to be known as one of the greatest rock jam sessions of all time.
Tickets for MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET are available online www.TicketMaster.com, by calling 877-250-2929, or by visiting the Nederlander Box Office (208 West 41st Street).
