The Film Society of Lincoln Center presented the 40th Chaplin Award honoring Academy Award-winner Barbra Streisand yesterday, April 22, at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center. The celebration in honor of the international film legend's groundbreaking career featured musical performances and film and interview clips culminating in the presentation of The Chaplin Award by President Bill Clinton. Below, watch video interviews from the arrivals, featuring Streisand, Liza Minnelli and many more!

Streisand last directed 1996's The Mirror Has Two Faces and has been credited with paving the way for other female directors in the industry. Her directorial debut, 1983's Yentl, caused a stir in Hollywood but opened the door for the likes of Kathryn Bigelow, Penny Marshall, Amy Heckerling, Nora Ephron, Betty Thomas and Susan Seidelman. It was recently reported that Streisand will now direct a currently untitled film about Margaret Bourke-White and Erskine Caldwell, financed by Russian backed Aldemisa Films.

Streisand is about to embark on a sold out tour with dates in Europe and Israel this June. She is also involved with an upcoming big screen reboot of the musical "Gypsy".

Streisand has appeared on Broadway in I CAN GET IT FOR YOU WHOLESALE and FUNNY GIRL. She has also received a special Tony Award. Her film work includes FUNNY GIRL, FUNNY LADY, YENTL, and NUTS. A lauded performer, she has won numerous awards including the Oscar, Grammy, and Emmy awards.

Founded in 1969 to celebrate American and international cinema, the Film Society of Lincoln Center works to recognize and support new directors, and to enhance the awareness, accessibility and understanding of film. Among its yearly programming of film festivals, film series and special events, the Film Society presents two film festivals in particular that annually attract global attention: the New York Film Festival which just celebrated its 50th edition, and New Directors/New Films which, since its founding in 1972, has been produced in collaboration with MoMA. The Film Society also publishes the award-winning Film Comment Magazine and a year-round calendar of programming, panels, lectures, educational and transmedia programs and specialty film releases at the famous Walter Reade Theater and the new state-of-the-art Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center.
