In its third year in New York City, the Summer Play Festival (SPF) closed on July 30th following an extremely successful 25-day run.  The festival set record attendance numbers playing to 91% capacity (more than 9,000 tickets sold) for the 15 new plays, many of which are now in discussions for further productions following exposure at SPF.

The Summer Play Festival is now taking submissions for the Fourth annual Festival in 2007. SPF is accepting scripts of musicals and children's shows along with new plays. SPF will only accept the first 600 scripts. The last day to submit is November 1st.  A complete list of guidelines and the online application can be found at www.spfnyc.com.

Under founder Arielle Tepper (a producer of Broadway's Monty Python's Spamalot, The Pillowman, A Raisin in The Sun, and Freak), The non-profit organization The Living Room for Artists Inc./Summer Play Festival provides emerging writers, directors, designers and producers an opportunity to work on their material and their craft in a protected environment, guided by established professionals at no cost to them. The festival takes place throughout the month of July at Theatre Row on 42nd Street. Tickets to all SPF shows are $10 each.
