SOUND OFF World Premiere Exclusive: New Tituss Burgess Single 'I'll Be Alright'

By: Oct. 09, 2012

Today we have a super-special SOUND OFF exclusive taken from the sensational forthcoming sophomore solo album from Broadway notable and 30 ROCK standout Tituss Burgess, "I'll Be Alright".

The brand new, largely R&B-flecked album from which this hugely emotional earworm is taken, COMFORTABLE, features a genre-spanning collection of self-penned tunes by the recognizable rising star recently seen in the Des McAnuff revival of GUYS & DOLLS and in the original Broadway casts of Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID and others. As is clear to hear in "I'll Be Alright" and throughout the exemplary album, Burgess continues to grow as a songwriter and vocalist since his first release and the heartfelt, vividly evocative material he has honed here extravagantly showcases his titanic performative prowess - magnified further still by the sheer, awe-inspiring power and force of his passionate delivery. Shades of Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins, Roberta Flack, Shirley Bassey, Bruno Mars and more abound - and, of course, some big emotions fit for the stage, as well. COMFORTABLE generously gives us a view of many sides of one of Broadway's best voices fully, immersively committed to showing us his voice as a songwriter in addition to his well-known ways as a showstopper - and scoring big in both pursuits.
Really big.

Be sure to stay tuned to BroadwayWorld for my extensive InDepth InterView with Tituss later this week, in preparation for his New World Stages spotlight concert on Sunday, October 14, celebrating the release of his new album, COMFORTABLE.
